R.R. 498A (50 H) (D.D. 31, 12-6-25) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. REF He/ADL/LG/16.9.25. ALTERNATIVE SILENCERS FOR NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I. The following two silencers were made as alternatives to the present New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I silencer which is not all that could be desired as far as silencing is concerned. (A) MODIFIED STANDARD SILENCER. This silencer differs from standard in the following respects. (1) The 63 holes in the intermediate pipe are enlarged from .250" dia. to .312" dia. (2) The three silencer baffles are drilled with 35 holes .312" dia., as against 56 holes .500" in dia. (3) A Silver Ghost type fish-tail is used, the area of the fish-tail port being 1.5 sq.in. as against 2.25 sq.in. on the 'Phantom'. In all other respects this silencer does not differ from standard. (B) CONCENTRIC TUBE SILENCER. The above sketch illustrates the construction of this silencer. The over-all dimensions are the same as a standard silencer. contd :- | ||
