1204 The Royal Automobile Club. Pall Mall, London, S.W. 1. Please address all Communications to THE SECRETARY Quoting the following Reference C /5838/AWP/KM Telegrams: AUTOMOBILE, LONDON. Telephone: WHITEHALL 2345 (26 lines). 5th August 1938 W.A. Robotham Esq., Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Mr. Robotham, I am now making arrangements for the Tourist Trophy Race, and wish to have the use of a car for official purposes and am wondering whether it will be possible for me to have a Bentley. I should use the car personally in my capacity as Clerk of the Course, and in addition to ordinary usage in and about the track should require it to lead the parade of the racing cars round the entire circuit prior to the commencement of the Race itself. For this reason therefore, if you think it worth while loaning me a car, I should like to have a Sports car if one is available. Immediately after the Race is over I am going away for two weeks, partly on holiday and partly to look over some projected routes I have in mind for the R.A.C. Rally, and I would very much like to take the car on for that period. This would mean that I should like to have a car for a total, in all, of three weeks, i.e., from Saturday 27th August until 17th September. This seems rather a large order, and I shall quite understand if circumstances do not permit of your being able to help me on this occasion. We have received a magnificent entry for the Race, although actually our list does not close finally until Monday next. I shall hope to see you when we are staying in Derby, prior to the Race, and remain, With all good wishes, Yours sincerely, AWPhillips ENCLOSURE Nº 414 "JUSTSO" | ||
