- 2 - 6) Both Petrol Gauge and Fuel Warning Light were out of operation. It was found that there was no supply cable at all, to the lamp, and no proper connection to earth from the gauge. The necessary cables were fitted. 7) It was found that there was no proper connection to earth from the clock. This was supplied. 8) The Instrument Lamps failed to light. This failure was traced to faulty fitting of the lamps into the coachwork, and the resultant bad contact between the body of the lamp and 'earthed' metal of the coachwork. These were temporarily fixed up and left for the coachbuilders to finish. 9) The N.S. Tail and Stop lamps failed to light. This was found to be due to a bad metallic contact, between the lamp bracket and the wing, which constituted the earth connection. This was overcome by running a new cable from the lamp body to a corresponding point on the O.S. lamp body, which was already satisfactorily 'earthed'. Both O.S. and N.S. Tail and Stop lamps were badly damaged and replaced by two new lamps obtained from Messrs. Globe and Simpson. PM/RC{R. Childs}/GAP. | ||
