X.4617 COPY. Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} BY10/H.4.5.25. 40/50 HP. BATTERIES. We have heard from Messrs. Peto and Radford again, pressing us to adopt the burnt-up connection from cell to cell. We have of course already adopted this scheme on the 20 HP. Our main reason for not adopting it on the 40/50 when we made P & R and Exide batteries exactly similar, was that we did not wish to raise a contentious point which might bring the issue very prominently before R's attention at that time. I understand now, however, that R.realises that I have increased the battery capacities and brought them into line, and is fairly satisfied with the result. This being so, I would like to obtain the Exide Company's views in regard to using burnt-up cell to cell connections. If they consider they are preferable to the bolted up connection at present used, then I will be prepared to consider adopting this scheme of connection in place of the present type. P & R. {Sir Henry Royce} have, of course, always impressed upon us their preference for the burnt-up connection from cell to cell. BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
