CADILLAC MOTOR CAR COMPANY DETROIT, MICHIGAN CADILLAC AND LASALLE MOTOR CARS August 20, 1931. Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Hives, Rolls-Royce, Limited, Derby, England. My dear H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} S.: Thank you for your letter of August 10th with introduction to Kaye Don which I shall certainly use. He is due in town tomorrow. We can certainly arrange to give him trips to the Proving Ground, etc., where probably he and C. W. Briggs can get into arguments over their respective hobbies. Regarding your letter on battery ignition on aircraft engines, I am referring this to Mr. Louden, an old Westinghouse acquaintance, who is now with the Delco Aviation Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. I will send you a reply shortly. Regarding Robotham's letter of July 21st, I am sorry that this got buried. I have now revived it and will send him a more or less intelligent reply shortly. This morning we have been out in the first left hand Phantom II which we have seen and are most enthusiastic about it, both the chassis and the Brewster coach work. I understand this car is fitted with springs of 250 and 120 pound rate. Whatever you have done has certainly given this car an excellent ride under our conditions.
