- 2 - HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}5/VS.{J. Vickers}9.6.38. Frame and Fittings. We are anxious to secure the end sockets to the front crossmember by the flash welding process, and if you are in agreement with this proposal we shall be glad if you will issue the necessary instructions. Will you kindly consider so modifying the shape of the plate FB.3580 as to form a cover which will prevent mud and stones entering the front end of the frame adjacent to the shock damper. Can the position of the rear stop iron brackets be modified to enable the rear springs to be lowered by removing the rear shackle pins only ? If this is possible assembly and removal of the rear axle would be considerably facilitated. Pedals. We note that two bolts are used to secure the pedal stem to the pedal lever on the accelerator control; cannot one of these bolts be deleted, since it would hardly appear necessary when only one bolt is used for this purpose on the brake and clutch pedal levers ?
