BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c, to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 47230 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M3.10.28. 'SS{S. Smith}' GEARBOX UNDERSHIELD. X. 7310 X. 7290 X. 7230 Herewith we send N.schs. 2728/9/30/31, shewing the gearbox undershield. It will be noticed that we have slightly modified the set of the intermediate exhaust pipe to facilitate assembly. We have also slightly modified the forward horizontal stay on the exhaust system. It will be noticed that we have further modified the construction of the undershield somewhat compared with EAC.7., the object being, as we believe, to simplify and lighten. It will be seen that we have run the side plates right through to the end as the undershield is now considerably shorter than on EAC.7. We think we have also made the cover for the starter motor easier to get down. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
