The current number of Automotive Industries shows the drawings of the above power unit. The general design is extraordinarily well thought out from the point of view of simplicity. For a Vee engine the arrangement of main oil feed to the bearings has some good points. The cylinder block is made with welded on sheet metal doors. The rear bearing oil retainer has a drainage pipe of ample proportions passing down to a drowned end in the oil sump. This scheme may be valuable to us as it appears to shield the drainage chamber against fluctuations of pressure in the crankcase. I think we ought therefore to try this idea. The b.h.p. of this unit is given as 60 but the performance of the car itself is uninteresting on account of its weight being 25 cwts which makes the litres per ton mile well below the average of this class of vehicle.
