x502 GRY{Shadwell Grylls} To EY. from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. Wer. F.{Mr Friese} Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hdy.{William Hardy} HHG. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}2/HP.29.4.35. J.3. Hypoid Rear Axle on 20/25. Herewith is N. Sch.4471, the modifications to the rear axle centre casing to provide "Perfect" oil seals for the driving shafts and to close up the gashes formerly required, to machine the bridge facing. These modifications are to bring the axle into line with the latest practice and can be made on the existing pattern. We also show a washer adjustment for both pinion and gear, which is also in accordance with the latest practice, and does not call for any modification to the pattern. With reference to the using of already existing 9/41 20-HP. hypoid gears in the first axle, we have now asked to see the actual gears it is proposed to use, as we think it may be possible to bring them in without departing from the final axle in any important particular. Further information to follow. Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
