BENTLEY 8.B.V.

We give herewith a report on the above chassis which has been stripped and inspected on conclusion of a 15,000 miles road test in France.

During the period of running certain components were changed and replacements fitted, and since these have not completed the full mileage a detailed report is given in the sections concerned.

Frames and Fittings.

Assembled in accordance with LOP.FB.3828 incorporating PD.86 Shock Damper Mounting, PD.76 Revised Front End of Frame, E.CD.514 High Front Engine Mounting, G.CD.543 Rear Engine Mounting. The complete frame was produced by Messrs. John Thompson.

The general condition of the frame assembly including cruciform, etc. is exceptionally good. The rear road spring anchor brackets and the frame section adjacent to these brackets is also satisfactory.

All "Float-ex" bushes fitted to the body brackets are in good condition; this also applies to the body brackets and step irons.

The near side front bumper bracket has been broken due to a slight collision and an incorrect bolt fitted as replacement. As will be seen from the attached photograph, the flanges on either side of the front apron have broken away.

The wingstay setscrews are exceptionally tight - lock-plates would therefore appear unnecessary.

The front engine support arch FB.3631 and brackets to frame FB.3632/3 have been tested and found free from cracks.

continued.
