'8.B.V' Bentley.

Will you please fit the water excluding ring we are sending to you to the servo on 8.B.V. This replaces the bakelite washer and distance piece from the washer to the oil seal.

The new ring bears on the spring plate and the casing of the gearbox the spigot on the ring fitting into the bore in which the oil seal is located.

Please insure that the bedding between the aluminium on the gearbox and the ring is good.

It will also be necessary to cut a slot in the bottom of the boss on the gearbox deeper than the spigot on the ring to allow any oil leaking past the seal to escape.

This slot should point backwards to clear the screw in the bottom of the face on the boss approximately 3/16" wide.

The outside edge of the spring plate should be sealed with adhesive tape and if this comes loose should be bound on with wire. This replaces Heldite.
