BJ. from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4086 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}8/LG11.5.22. GOSHAWK. X4086 Referring to your BJ15/H8.5.22. As a result of the examination of 5-Goshawk-11 after running 10,000 miles in France and a Conference between - E, Da{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}, BY, Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and HY{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer}, a policy was agreed upon to overcome the troubles and failures proved on the Goshawk. Although we are receiving designs from W.W. of the new parts, no actual producing of parts is being done at Derby. There are no machines running whatever in the Works to produce these parts and the only work that can be done is light hand fitting jobs. There is no possibility of building up 5-Goshawk-11 to carry on for the further 10,000 (making the 20,000) on that car until we can get some of the new parts made. We consider that some arrangement ought to be made so that the experimental work on Goshawk can proceed continuously even though it means going outside to get the parts made.
