Messrs. S. Smith & Sons,
Cricklewood Works
LONDON N.W. 2.

Dear Sirs,

Thank you for your letter ref: R.2.C.75851 of the 17th. inst. We are pleased to hear that you are arranging to let us have a further set of strengthened rear axle fittings. Please do not go to the trouble of sending, in the meantime, a set of brackets similar to those which failed.

We should perhaps have informed you that the car on which these jacks are fitted is one of our experimental cars, and the object of using Jackalls is to get experience on their behaviour in order that we can be in a position to answer enquiries which we may receive as to whether the Jackall system is a suitable system for our cars.

Any tests to which we may put the car therefore will be of such a nature as to satisfy ourselves that they will stand up to conditions to which we know our cars are subjected.

If in the process of our test we do discover weaknesses and with your co-operation correct them, the ultimate result will be of advantage to yourselves, to us and to our customers.

Yours faithfully,

FOR ROLLS ROYCE LIMITED.
