Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} +206 To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Wop.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re Bentley Brakes Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}6/Ell.2.35 Referring to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}16/KW.5.2.35-The matter dealt with appears to be one which requires attention at an early date as the sudden disappearance of brakes for the reason indicated might, as mentioned in the report, lead to a fatal accident. This question of fading brakes has been known to exist since the Bentley announcement and demonstration at Ascot in October 1933, but the true reason has never been disclosed until now. I should like to be told when I am at Derby on Wednesday what we are doing and how soon a modification can be on test. We are fortunate that the trouble has not occurred in the hands of an owner, but it is dangerous now that some of these cars are getting into the hands of the racing type of driver such as George Eyston and Raymond Mays of the E.R.A.Racing Company.
