40/50 HP. SPARE WHEEL CARRIERS.

Having had to deal with the question of arranging for certain other makes of tyres to be used on the above chassis, I find that our spare wheel carrier is only suitable for one type of one Company's production viz. the silent tread of the Dunlop Co., size 33" x 6.75".

If a Dunlop tyre of similar dimensions but with Buttressed tread has to be fitted then the spare wheel carrier is useless, as the centre is at least 1" too low so that the tyre actually rests on the upper flanges of the side members.

It seems obvious that we have got to make provision for the spare wheel in such a way that India Tyres, Goodyear or Dunlop Buttressed tyres can be fitted indiscriminately with our present Silent tread type Dunlop tyre. To do this means raising the centre of the rear spare wheel carrier fixing by 1".
