X3426. RE. USE OF FIBRE FOR FRICTION & PACKING.

Further to my complaint re. slipper drive for the hand starter failing, I feel that the cause of this failure was due to the fibre swelling, thereby entirely altering the characteristic of the slipper drive, the rating of the springs on this slipper drive being very high.

I am therefore anxious that bronze or such like material should be used in preference to fibre for this job, and any other job such as the engine front flywheel and damping spring drive, etc.
