The following is a brief summary of the discussion held on Friday last, the 3rd inst:-

SPECTRECodename for Phantom III.

(1) Valve Noise.

Whyman should continue to take an interest in the SpectreCodename for Phantom III valve noise problem, and try both aluminium rocker covers and insulated rocker covers. We are instructing some close clearance valves similar to those recently run on the test bed, and he should follow these up.

(2) Steering Lock.

Steadman will report as to when we can get steering arms fitted to all cars to give the proper steering lock.

(3) Tyre Wear.

Leslie will issue a report to show what can be done to reduce tyre wear.

(4) Jacks.

Bowering will issue a report on the progress made by Lockheed's on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III jacks.

(5) Swindell and Ll.Smith will co-operate in getting a camshaft made with a long toe similar to the Ph.II, so that we can try a SpectreCodename for Phantom III out with close clearance valves and this camshaft and no hydraulic tappets. At the same time Smith will talk over the Buick scheme with Grylls and see if we cannot get warm oil to our push rods in a more simple manner than using the existing cooler.
