Dear Mr. Smith,

Thanks so much for your letter of Dec. 8th.

I am sailing for the States on Dec. 30th on the "Brittanic". I went over the Lincoln factory the last time I was in america and was very impressed, the construction of the engine with regard to connecting rods and crankshaft is so like our own aero engine practice that it was particularly instructive to see the excellence of their manufacturing methods. Unfortunately I had only half a day to spare at that time and did not get hold of anybody who was particularly well versed in the technicalities of the job. Therefore, if you could give me an introduction for my next trip, I should be most grateful.

Yours sincerely,
