Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} agreed some time ago that in order to please Mr Fairey we should fit High Compression Head to the engine and improve his brakes. The High Compression Head is already in hand in the Experimental Dept. Will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} please let us have this as quickly as possible. With regard to the brakes, it is proposed to deal with them as we did in the case of 194-GN belonging to Mr Thistlethwaite, i.e. fit the wider shoes etc. which become standard on "N2" series. Will By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please issue the necessary covering instructions for the parts to be prepared, so that immediately on receipt of the car - and we understand it will be here today or tomorrow - wider brake shoes can be fitted. Will BP. please issue covering instructions Order No.54048. Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} [Signature] P.S. Since writing the above Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} has 'phoned to say that we are to fit Hartford Shock Absorbers front and rear and Continental type front springs, as in the case of Mr Thistlethwaites. Will Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} please say if it is in order for us to fit these pieces? [STAMP] RECEIVED 14 MAY 1931 | ||
