To D.H. from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Copy to C.L. " " RH{R. Hollingworth} " " Y " " EFC. ORIGINAL RE 40/50 H.P. FLOATCHAMBER. X.682 X.2468 III 1919 It has recently been necessary to detach the float-chamber from chassis 7 CA for cleaning purposes. The nuts which must be undone at the base of the carburettor choke tubes are made somewhat inaccessible by reason of the jet bosses on the float chamber projection. Mr. Royce considers that the job would be much more easily accomplished if these nuts were dropped until they were below the jet bosses in question. This could be effected by adding bosses for the bolts, or by using ferrule distance pieces. The former method should be applied to production, while the latter could be used to determine the increase in accessibility obtained. Would you kindly supply three longer bolts with ferrules for chassis 7 CA. It should first be investigated that it is possible to insert these longer bolts through the bottom of the choke tube castings.
