X.4629 CARTRIDGE TYPE FIELD FUSE. V8780 X4338
"V" SERIES CHASSIS & UP-TO-DATE GOSHAWK CHASSIS.

To be definitely safe from failure in normal circumstances, the current carrying capacity of the cartridge type field fuse has had to be standardised at a greater value than was at first anticipated, and therefore we are nearer than anticipated to the condition in which disconnection of the battery from any cause may result in damage to :-

1. Dynamo.
2. Cutout.
3. Lamp bulbs.
4. Ignition system.

It may therefore still be necessary to retain the present warning plates affixed to the battery box lid {A. J. Lidsey} and to the dynamo carcase, though we think it will be agreed that these should not be retained if it can be demonstrated that they are now unnecessary.

We are therefore proposing to make tests, both on the bench and on chassis, of the up-to-date electrical system (including the new 57 coil dynamo armature), with a view to finding out, at the risk of damaging some component, as to whether it is really now possible for any serious damage to occur, if the battery is disconnected.
