Seat Erosion on Bentley High Performance Cylinder Heads. You know that we have had trouble on the T.T. heads owing to seat erosion. We observe that the Americans are in the habit of chilling the valve seats during the casting of the cylinder head, thereby raising the Brinell. H1. thinks that this is a practicable proposition. Will you therefore please arrange for another casting to be made to the latest Le Mans specification; i.e., with the dropped valve guide and increased water to the plug, and H1. will co-operate with the foundry to see what is the highest Brinell we can get on the valve seats.
