Messrs. Vandervell Products Ltd.,

LONDON, W.3.

For the attention of Mr. Johnson.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 27th. inst. in regard to the grooving of the rocker bush EB.4733.

We note you have based your groove dimension, i.e. .790/.770 dia. and depth .015/.020 on a bore dimension of .734 dia. We would point out, however, that this bore has to be reamed out to .750 dia. which is shown on the drawing EB.4733, and which would leave a groove depth of .008 - .015. Actually, the figure we quoted for the diameter of the groove .790 would give a groove depth of .020"; however, we note that this would penetrate too deeply in the steel.

Under the circumstances, therefore, we would like you to give us your opinion as to what diameter of groove we could go to without any risk to the bush, which we will incorporate on our drawing.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
