Rolls-Royce Ltd., Derby. WST Dear Sirs, In reply to your favour of the 2nd inst., the writer confirms his telephone conversation with Mr. West last Friday, and we are despatching to you this evening, by Passenger Train, a Speedometer and Rev-Clock which are fitted with the latest type mileage discs and non-interference magnets. We are very glad that you found that the Speedometer we sent you, for you to confirm our tests for magnetic interference, was perfectly satisfactory, and we have taken up the query in your letter with Mr. Wills, who reports that the difference in speed of the Speedometer and the Rev-Clock will have no effect at all on the interference factor. Variations in revs, we understand, do not cause any variation in that respect. The writer told Mr. West that you would very greatly help us by loaning us the instrument off your Graham-Paige car. We hope that you can arrange to do this, as it would enable us to take some interesting comparative readings. Over-damping sometimes brings in problems of lag, but, naturally, we are always only too glad to inspect other methods of dealing with our problems. We have tried all ways to get one of these instruments - without success - and our only hope is that you can loan us yours. Awaiting your reply, We beg to remain, Yours faithfully, For THE A.T. SPEEDOMETER CO. LTD. (Signature: H.R. Buckland) Director. | ||
