Test report on the extension of two Bensport front brake ropes under sustained load.

| FILES. X 1559. 11.5.33. BRAKE ROPE EXTENSION. Two Bensport front brake ropes, each supporting a load of 200 lbs. were left undisturbed for a period of 148 hrs., the extension being measured every 24 hrs. approximately. At the end of this time the load was increased to 400 lbs. for a further period of 90 hrs. when the load was again increased to 500 lbs. for 120 hrs. The extentions were also measured at the end of the test after each of the above load stages had been removed, and after removing all the load and allowing the ropes to settle, the first 200 lbs. was replaced, the "zero" readings then being retaken. Throughout the tests the ropes were prevented from unwinding under load.
