BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to BJ. HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M13.3.28. PHANTOM - CENTRALISED CHASSIS LUBRICATION. X3806 X8420 X8427 With reference to the front axle control damper - lubrication of the ball end - by now we hope you may have ascertained that the arrangement shewn on F.78208. gives sufficient oil at the ball end. If there is any doubt about it we suggest that an increase of the surfaces around the junction might ensure a certain pressure, and have indicated what we mean on N. scheme 2564. herewith. A new spindle only would be required at first, though subsequently a little aluminium could be added to the damper casting to give a still longer surface.
