Coverley - Production Engineer} E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}3/MN.28.2.36. D.W.S. Front Jacks - N.Sch.4530. It was originally intended that when the front of the car was fully jacked up the clearance between the tyre and the road should be approximately 1½". As a result of providing the jack piston with better control the stroke of the jack was reduced by approximately 1", and the clearance between the tyre and the road is now found to be approximately ½". This is adequate provided the road is hard and level, but difficulty might be experienced should the road be soft or the jack over a pot-hole. In order to provide for any difficulties that may arise we suggest that the front jacks be ordered with an extra ½" of screw thread so that they might be mounted ½" lower than in the position shown on N.Sch. 4530 by merely shortening the tubular distance piece at the top. It is not suggested that we should take advantage of this unless it is found necessary. Although the jacks for the first production cars have been ordered we understand that this modification to the amount of screw thread on the outer barrel will not cause any delay, as the Expl. Dept. have been in touch with Mr. Sessions who is prepared to make this modification if instructed immediately. Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
