To R.{Sir Henry Royce} from EFB. c. to CJ. c. to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} c. to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} ORIGINAL X.3795 - PRE-WAR BOSCH COMBINED SWITCHBOX, AMMETER, CUT-OUT AND REGULATOR. We are sending to you under separate cover one of the above instruments which we have taken to pieces for examination and again put together loosely so that you may readily examine this if you desire. It may be remembered that we obtained two of these sets before the war, comprising dynamo and switchbox as now sent. We also have one pre-War Bosch starter motor but so far no tests have been made upon this. One dynamo we took to pieces for examination, the other one we have kept for experimental purposes. In the same way we have taken one switchbox to pieces and have kept the other intact for such purposes. We are at present investigating the performance of the combination of the Bosch dynamo and switchbox with combined cut-out and regulator. We have not taken the ammeter to pieces - probably you will like to do so. The cut-out and regulator were very difficult items to dismantle, once taken to pieces, these cannot be correctly reassembled. You will notice that in several instances a rolling over of the material has been resorted to so that these items are not intended to be taken apart. Electrically, in this direction the following points are of interest:- Contd. | ||
