With reference to memo. EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}13/MH.{M. Huckerby}5.8.35. below we give you our Fitting Dept's report on this matter.- "With regard to EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}'s complaint on the above, we are afraid that we cannot show in evidence the nut and worm off Chassis GOH.4, as the nut has been re-tapped, the worm polished and the complete column put into service again. The cause of the stiffness, however, was the whitemetal picking up due to the surface becoming dry. Whilst we are unable to demonstrate this particular column, there is, however, one that we have sent to Sft.{Mr Swift} for his examination from off another chassis which developed the same symptoms and shows undoubted signs of picking up. This worm and nut we are sure could be seen by EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}" Sft{Mr Swift}/JMW. | ||
