affected then all other fuel pumps in France using this fuel will suffer in the same way, in other words, everybody would be in the same boat.

(7) Petrol Tank.

The difficulty of filling the last two gallons will exist on the first 200 production Bentleys, and this difficulty will naturally be more pronounced when the car is filled, tilted over on a steeply cambered road so that the pump may have to be checked towards the end of the filling. We fear there is no alternative but to accept this, but we expect to get a revised filler on the second 200 Bentley tanks with an inverted air channel of ample proportions to clear the air from the top of the tank under the worst conditions. The design is being finished off now.

(8) Springing and Damping.

With regard to the query on the question of variable damping, we have in hand at the moment a design for an easily operated accessible adjustment on each damper, so that without the aid of a spanner the driver can go round his dampers and regulate the rating, which may even have only two or three positions according to the kind of work that the car is required to do, for example, when taking the car on to the Continent it would not be a difficult matter to set all the dampers to the maximum rating with this device.

This answers all the points of Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s note and a further note will follow giving particulars of the remaining sections discussed.
