ORIGINAL Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LG14.4.28. 20 HP. LIGHTER CLUTCH. X5300 We have carried out tests on a lighter 20 HP. clutch. The weight of the standard clutch is 69.625 lbs. The weight of the lightened clutch is 41.000 lbs. Attached is a print G.51212 shewing where the weight has been removed. We should have preferred to take less from the periphery but made the test as simple as possible. We have not been able to detect any loss of performance in slow running or appreciable greater difficulty in getting away from a stand-still due to this modification which saves 28.6 lbs. weight.
