Windmill Rd.,
Sunbury, Middlesex.

Dear Sirs,

We wish for experimental purposes to fit two thermostats to the outlet water pipes on our Kestrel aero engine. Pump circulation is employed and the normal water flow through each of the two outlet pipes of 1 1/2" inside diameter is 45 galls/min. A by-pass pipe of 5/8" would be used passing to the carburetter heating jacket and then to the suction side of the pump. It is desired that this by-pass through the carburetter should always be in operation.

We wish the thermostats to stop the circulation below 75°C. except for that which passes through the carburetter jacket. It is also desired that the presence of the thermostats will not restrict the water flow at temperatures above 80 to 85°C.

We should like to know if you could supply an instrument which would fit in with the above scheme and would be interested to have the specification of what you could offer us.

We are,
Yours faithfully,

For Rolls-Royce Ltd.
