x1677 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}2/KW. 17th October, 1934. C.T. Skinner, Esq., The S.U. Co. Limited, East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, BIRMINGHAM 8. Dear Mr. Skinner, Thank you for your two letters. We are keeping a daily check on the diaphragms under test. The one in Acetone is gradually becoming more stiff, the remaining diaphragms being O.K. We find it difficult to analyse the solution with which they are doped. Have you by any chance any linen in stock which has not been doped ? If so, perhaps you would be good enough to forward us a small piece. We will then treat it with a Bakelite solution which is not affected by any sort of acid or petrol, and in the event of it being a success it would certainly save trouble in obtaining a good diaphragm material, and definitely save expense. I will endeavour to come over and see you in the near future unless you will be coming this way. The last time I was over, the possibility of the Bentley float sticking was discussed, and Mr.Harris said that he would send along 2 floats with the centre tubes "bell-mouthed" and two chamber studs with a smoother finished surface. Can you please let us have these as soon as possible ? | ||
