| -2- 5.4.37. The trouble with these springs appears to be due to the reduction in thickness round the eye. Firth's top plate is only .010" thicker than your top plates, but it is .045" thicker at the point of failure. We presume the reduction section is due to machining and would like to know what accuracy you can get on the bore of the eye without machining.
