Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ld., DERBY. Attention of Mr. Robotham. Dear Sirs, Re: JACKALLS - Chassis 21-G-IV. Further to my earlier letter and subsequent 'phone conversation of this afternoon, as arranged we are sending along the four rubber jack washers together with the control box valve unit which were removed from the 21-G-IV Chassis system, and with these parts including a further jack and control box washer respectively from which (especially in the case of the control box valve member) you will be able to judge the amount of distortion which has taken place in the 21-G-IV rubbers. Our Fitting Manager, Mr. Bailey, reports that although he gave us some of the fluid which was removed from the jacks, a portion of this was left with Mr. Bowering. We are having a careful analysis of this fluid but our Jackall Engineers venture the opinion, for what it is worth, that this oil is similar to that usually employed for shock absorber purposes. If, after you have had an opportunity of further investigating this matter, you would like me to visit you I shall be delighted to do so. Meanwhile, you will appreciate that I am considerably relieved to have the result of our Engineers' findings. | ||
