S.P.81 S. SMITH & SONS (Motor Accessories) LTD., CRICKLEWOOD WORKS, LONDON, N.W.2. CONTINUATION NO. 1. As regards the failure of the junction box through union fracturing, we are rather at a loss to account for this as although there are over 40,000 of these boxes in use we have, so far, no record of a single failure excepting through accidental damage. In view of your requirements, however, we suggest supplying you with a slightly modified box which incorporates a strengthened design of Enots type union, obviating any further risk of fracture, the material being in gun metal instead of zinc base alloy. It has occurred to us in regard to the actual pipe line, especially in view of the tests to which you are submitting this set, that it would be advantageous to use a chrome molybdenum tubing in place of silico manganese as employed in our standard system. In view of your proposals to make a further test of this system in France we would like to supply you with a completely new set of components which embodies the above modifications and we can assure you that we are quite ready to stand or fall on the results of this set. I would explain in conclusion that when the G.21-IV Chassis was Jackall equipped Mr. Bailey left a spare can of fluid but, unfortunately, this seems to have been overlooked. Yours faithfully, For S. SMITH & SONS (MOTOR ACCESSORIES) LD. [Signature] SALES DIRECTOR Messrs. Rolls Royce Ld. 8.10.35. | ||
