- 12 - HPS{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr}/RH.{R. Hollingworth}1/VS.{J. Vickers}23.9.37. Rear Axle (Continued). The Driving Shaft Adjusting Washers G.53869/78 had worn approximately .010 - the Thrust Washers were in good condition. The float in bearings was as follows :- G.83388 (R.{Sir Henry Royce} & M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} 2.MD.J.T.35.) Bevel Pinion = .001. G.55867. Duplex Bearing = .0015. G.84910 Stone Guards for Hydraulic Jacks were badly pitted by stones, which shows that they are serving a useful purpose. G.84911 Jack Bracket on Near Side was damaged by the Shock Damper Link; this should be investigated. Rear Brakes LOP.G.83556. N.S.4778. Condition good. The condition of the Brake Linings in Ferodo M.L. was satisfactory. Adjustment taken up - 28 half turns on the Near Side and 29 half turns on the Off Side. The Oilite Bushes were free from rust and scoring and in good condition. The Bell Crank Levers, with Keys removed, were in good condition. (Production would be facilitated by the standardisation of these). Needle Roller Bearings were in good condition, with the exception of O.S. Foot Brake Toggle Shaft which was slightly grooved by the Rollers. Rear Hubs LOP.G.81902. G.84797. Chromidium Brake Drums were in good condition. The condition of Hoff. 150 Ball Bearing, replacing Roller Bearing and dispensing with outer Distance Piece, was satisfactory; we suggest the standardisation of this part. continued. | ||
