1263 To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} c.c. to RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}/Smedley. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}9/JH.16.5.39. REPAIR OF PETROL PUMPS AT WORKS - ALL CHASSIS. With reference to By.8/W.2.5.39. it has been agreed to repair all petrol pumps at the Works. To put this scheme into operation a stock of parts will have to be obtained from the S.U. Co. and a detailed list of prices for parts. We attach a rough list of the parts which may be required as a guide giving the S.U. part No's. where available and No. required per pump. As a general rule only the following pieces will require replacement in each pump. 2 Diaphragm assemblies. 22 rollers. 2 sets of contact gear and points. It has always been the practice in the past to replace these parts when a pump has been repaired and we should continue to do so. We should also obtain a rebate on the armatures from the scrapped diaphragm assemblies. The number of pumps returned for repair average about 27 from Kingsbury and 27 at Cricklewood per month. Stocks of the above mentioned essential parts should be laid in accordingly. Breakage of the contact end covers and contact plates is also fairly frequent and is caused in transit so that these parts should be available in larger quantities. This also applies to valve discs and top and bottom plugs and C. & A.{Mr Adams} washers which become damaged when the pump is stripped. We make the following suggestions as to quantities. Diaphragm assembly 100% of pumps for repair. Rollers 100% " " " Contact blades 100% " " " Toggle mechanism 100% " " " | ||
