PHANTOM SUSPENSION! Handwritten: V8410

We have carried out some preliminary tests with the hydraulic dampers on the rear of the car. These were arranged as single acting, giving a checking load of 60 lbs. on the rebound.

So far it appears that these would be better than the corresponding friction shock dampers for a given load but they will not make any very great difference to the riding complaint.

We are continuing the test to confirm these results and to determine the best setting for these dampers on the rear.

[Bar chart data]
- Bar 1: 64 c.c. / 60 lbs. friction.
- Bar 2: 59 c.c. / 60 lbs. friction single acting.
- Bar 3: 54 c.c. / 25 lbs. friction.
- Bar 4: 46 c.c. / No friction.

Road speed 23 m.p.h.
40/50 HP. Phantom.
Tyre pressures 40 and 45
Conditions otherwise as in Tests 1.b.
