Contd. -2- R8/G21.4.20. for the rough Continental service. I advise as soon as possible, removing the split leaf from the stock of spring at Derby, and rendering the bedding between the leaves more satisfactory than it is at present, so as to avoid the hard place at the end of the shorter plates. Another reason for the increased risk of failure is that the makers slot the plates, which is not shewn on our instructions. It was at the end of this slot where the shorter plates broke.
