EPCM/AD11.7.30 contd. -3- Some time ago we had experimentally a sheet metal battery box on the 20 HP. chassis but the design of this would now need bringing up to date. The present box is made rather expensively of teak and it is considered likely that the sheet metal battery box would be less expensive, the present wooden box having to be reinforced with steel U pieces. Ventilation of battery box lid.{A. J. Lidsey} Further to the above, and with either the present wooden battery box or the new design of sheet metal box, we recommend that the lid{A. J. Lidsey} should be ventilated to prevent the accumulation of explosive mixture inside the battery box and also the collection of moisture on the battery top. The design should be such that water cannot get into the box from outside. EPC. | ||
