We have noted contents of Le Carbone's letter of the 5th inst., and have now returned this to Roy{Sir Henry Royce} having taken a copy for our own files. We have obtained for Experimental purposes one dozen of the latest delivery of Le Carbone brushes (numbering 250) and on one out of this dozen we found that the pig-tail came out quite easily so there is likelihood that others of this delivery of brushes will be faulty. Chat. informs me that there are no Inspectors on the place but it appears to me that these brushes should be at once examined for this fault, if this can be arranged. In fitting some of the old delivery and of this delivery we find these sometimes to jam in the brush-holders. Micrometer measurements of the brushes show these to be correct to drawing within the limits given so it appears that some of the dimensions of the brush holders may not be quite correct. It is a pity to have to touch the brushes with the file or emery paper in order to get these to slip in, so we think that the accuracy of the dimensions of the Continued - | ||
