NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I STARTER GEAR (STARTER ON ENGINE.) ~~X8650~~ X7650

We send herewith drawing LeC. 2179. - New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I starter main circuit switch operating the coil switch.

This switch is to be used in place of the one previously incorporated in the solenoid, in which contact was made and the main current brought into use too early, thereby causing a thump.

With the switch shewn on the enclosed drawing the main current should be timed to operate as late as possible in relation to the travel forward of the pinion when engaging with the flywheel.

In embodying this switch it will be necessary to cast a facing on the flywheel cover to suit the switch base, which is an aluminium die casting held in position with 3 screws.

We may find it necessary to make slight modifications after testing, but for the moment our one desire is to have this switch rigged up at the earliest possible moment in order to test the result of retarding the time of making the main switch connection.

AJS.
