We have tested and examined the hydraulic jack mentioned in Hdy{William Hardy}8/V.3.3.31. The jack has the following dimensions etc. Minimum height............ 6.625" Initial hand adjustment.. 2.625" 1st. stage hydraulic lift. 3.4375" 2nd. stage hydraulic lift. 2.750" Total extended height. 15.4375" Weight. Jack. 7.5 lbs. Handle. 2.0 " Total 9.5 lbs. The minimum height is greater, hydraulic lift less, and the hand adjustment less than on our standardised Dunlop Jack. It will not cope with all the demands that can be made upon it. The jack has been subjected to our usual test of lifting up one side of the front of a P.II car 50 times. It did not fail on this test. Oil leaks very badly from all the glands. We think the initial hand adjustment is crude and very liable to be lost. The handle is also very crude and not at all easy to manipulate. We could not recommend the jack in its present form for use on our cars. we are sending it to you for your inspection. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Ltd. | ||
