BY9/P14.6.20 E F C JUN 15 1920 CHASSIS - REAR SPRINGS. Referring to the three pairs of special Rear Springs which have been tapered off as regards thickness [stamped RECEIVED], but kept full width on the ends except for the radii at the corners, it would appear that in measuring our drawing, Messrs. Woodheads have taken the twice full size drawing as being full size, as the plates with the thickest ends, which are supposed to be to the drawing, have come in .175 thick whereas on the drawing they [handwritten] should have been .100", a dimension which WD {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} , will remember I wrote in pencil on the blueprint we left at Messrs. Woodheads. Mr. Hives is anxious to obtain delivery of the following pairs of springs which should have plates not thicker than .100" at the ends:- 2 1800 2 1900 2 2000 2 2100 2 2200 2 2300 The springs are to have the tapered end inside view, that is, the thickness tapers are to be parallel in plan with a radius not greater than .750" at the corners. Hs {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} , is most anxious to obtain sets of these springs as soon as possible, as he proposed to put the matter up before CJ, and R as soon as he has obtained the springs in question and demonstrated that they overcome the squeaking, with the object of using them without going through the Contd. | ||
