| D R A F T . MINUTES OF WORKS COMMITTEE CONFERENCE. 25TH FEBRUARY 1921. Present - Hr. Bn. {W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} Hy. {Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hm. {Capt. W. Hallam - Head Repairs} Wor. {Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} BY. {R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EP. {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Da. {Bernard Day - Chassis Design} [Handwritten notes on the right:] profit £925 250 ----- 1175 body 350 ----- £1525 [Handwritten notes to the left of the above column:] £1110 300 ----- 1410 350 ----- £1760 Reference CJ1/D21.2.21. The Works Committee assume that the two costs referred to in paragraph 4 on page 1. are the actual cost of chassis as delivered to Sales, and on the same basis as chassis are now delivered to Sales, that is to say, without tyres. Re Cost of Goshawk(Aero Engine)(Codename for 20HP Car / Aero Engine after Kestrel(Aero Engine)) II. [Handwritten note:] Because there is no complete design also It is difficult for the Works Committee to give anything very definite in the way of cost, because conditions both in labour and material are in a state of flux, but assuming a simpler chassis to make, it is thought that the labour figure for this chassis would be roughly £295, material £375, establishment charges say 133-1/3rd.%, on labour, so that we might be able to get somewhere near the figure of £1050. [Handwritten note:] for the chassis. [Handwritten note:] Restimate 6 £1180 - £1170 .5 £1180 925 This, of course, is on the assumption that we make at least 2000 a year. With reference to page 2:- (a) Firstly, its cost as it stands. We consider this chassis has been made at a profit, and could be made at a profit in our Works, if we made the identical car in reasonably large quantities. | ||
