RE. EAGLE(Aero Engine) XVI. THRUST BEARING. YS159

In accordance with AJS1/M3.12.25. We have carried out further tests on New Departure No.215 Bearing. These tests were carried out on thrust rig and load applied through lever 6-1 ratio and consisted of 10 hrs. in for forward direction and 10 hrs. in the reverse direction with a thrust load on 2,500 lbs. at 3,000 r.p.m.

We give below figures of tests :-

FORWARD.

| Test No. | Lbs. load on lever. | Thrust load. lbs. | Speed of rig. r.p.m. | Time run hrs. | Max. temp: | Initial float. | Wear. |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 416.6 | 2,500 | 3000 | 10 | 81°C | .002 | Nil. |

REVERSE.

| 2 | 416.6 | 2,500 | 3000 | 10 | 73°C | .002 | Nil. |

At the completion of tests, condition of bearing was so good that it has been decided to subject the same bearing to further tests under the same conditions for a period of 20 hrs. in each direction. Figures of these tests will be supplied when completed.
