Chassis Costs - Fan Blades.
---------------------------

Our attention has been drawn to the high cost of the Phantom III fan blades (E.85301). These are a hang over from Phantom II and are in 16 S.W.G. RR.56 at a cost of 4/8d per chassis. The Bentley fan blades EB.1566 of almost similar size are made in 18 SWG mild steel, at a cost of 11d per chassis. We are, therefore, paying a very high price for the small amount of weight saved by using aluminium.

We recommend making up and testing a Phantom III fan having mild steel blades to E.85301, but using 18 S.W.G. material, in order that we can change over on production as soon as possible; thus saving approximately 3/9d per chassis.
