Bailey - Chief Engineer} Sft. {Mr Swift} Ave [text is struck through in red] re Phantom III Chassis Frame - Diagonal Sheet Metal Stays between third crossmember and gearbox. We have had the diagonal sheet crossmembers mentioned above on test for some time and it is urgent that we should make up our minds whether they are going to be included in the specification or not for Phantom III production in place of the small tubular stay which only stiffens the hand brake mechanism anchorage. Designs for aluminium distance pieces in the frame have been issued for both. Personally I am of the opinion that these transfer stays should be included right away and that if we were starting today to design the chassis frame de novo we should definitely include them in the scheme. I should be glad to have your views on this point. E. {Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
