N. P. L. ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT TEST MARK = DHQ.1. SENDERS MARK T(C).

The method of test and apparatus used was described in our Report of October 20th., 1926, ref. DCP/CJ. The material was supplied in one piece moulded to about 10" radius, measuring 8 1/2" long by 3" wide by 0.34 thick. From this four strips each 3" x 3/4" were cut for the test.

Average wear = 0.027 inch.

Area of Test Strips = 8.807 sq.inches: Duration of Test = 6 hours:
Total work absorbed in 6 hours = 62,080,000 ft. lbs. = 7,049,000 ft. lbs/sq.inch.
Average rate of absorption of work = 5.23 H.P.
Wear figure = wear in inches for the absorption of one million ft. lbs. of work per sq. inch = 0.0038 inch.
